Private drawing instruction will teach you many important drawing fundamentals such as perspective, form and structure, lighting and shadow and the use various drawing materials. 

*Timing of Class sessions will be set up with Instructor and Student after student registers for class, does not need to be consecutive weeks. This class runs for 1.5 hours for 4 weeks.

Each session will include exercises that help flex creative muscles and nurture artist intuition to activate lifelong skills for observation and self-expression.

Overall, this private instruction aims to build fundamental skills, enhance creativity, and empower students to express themselves through drawing. 

*Continued instruction optional, class can be repeated to build skill set.

Introduction to Metalsmithing & Jewelry Making (3 - D Lab)

Ready to explore working with metal? 

In this 7-week class for beginners you will be introduced to the skills of traditional metalsmithing and jewelry making.

Get a comprehensive introduction to the use of hand tools to practice fundamentals such as sawing, filing, forming, textures, cold connections and surface finishing using metals such as copper, brass, and bronze.

Videos and visuals are used to expand your knowledge of both design and techniques.  

Join this active and fun atmosphere for a chance to work with your hands and try something new!

For Adults 16+ $30.00 in supplies are included.

Classes can be repeated to further refine & develop skills and work on individual projects.

One Day Handbuilding Workshop- 9/23

This class is a great way to get your hands on clay! This beginner friendly class students will create a mug or cup using handbuilding techniques, students will have about 3.5 hours to create and decorate their piece using stamps and other surface design techniques. I will give a small talk and demo at the beginning of the lesson, then students will have time to create their cup or mug. I will have a template for them to work with and cut out with clay to make their cup or mug. For the last 10- 20 min of the class we will have a small discussion on what processes happen after creating their piece and they will then choose a glaze for their piece. Students can expect their work to be finished and ready for pick up 4-8 weeks after their class.

Note: tools and clay will be provided, but please bring a towel or smock and wear clothes that you can get messy.

One-Day Wheel Throwing Workshop-9/23

Calendar Sep 23, 2024 at 3 pm, runs for 1 week

In this beginner friendly class students will learn some basics of wheel throwing and learn how to successfully make a bowl. I will give a small talk and demo at the at the beginning of the lesson, then students will have 3.5 hours to create their bowl(s). For the last 10-20 minutes of the class students will choose their favorite/ best bowl that will be the most successful for the processes that come after wheel throwing, as well as choosing a glaze for their piece. Students can expect their pieces to be finished and ready to pick up 4- 8 weeks after their class. 

Note: tools and clay will be provided,but please bring a towel or smock and wear clothes that can get messy.

This class is tailored to first-time students who have little to no prior experience working with clay. Throughout the course, you will have the opportunity to make cups, bowls, mugs, and small vases. We will learn how to trim our work, add handles, and utilize a handful of decoration techniques from carving to glazing.

Additionally, students will have access to open studio hours on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm, providing a total of 84 extra hours for independent work outside of class.

Participants will also learn skills such as reclaiming and wedging clay, along with proper artwork storage. Emphasizing repetition of action, this class aims to create an understanding of how to throw on the pottery wheel.

 

This course can be repeated as needed.

Course Description:

Be introduced to hand-building techniques to create functional and sculptural work. With this comprehensive seven-week class meets on Tuesdays from 7:15 pm to 9:45 pm. This class is tailored to first-time students who have little to no prior experience working with clay. Throughout the course, you will have the opportunity to make cups, bowls, mugs, vases, lidded jars, planters, plates, and small containers. You will learn how to add handles, add feet, and utilize a handful of decoration techniques from carving to glazing.

Additionally, students will have access to open studio hours on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm, providing a total of 84 extra hours for independent work outside of class.

Participants will also learn skills such as reclaiming and wedging clay, along with proper artwork storage. Emphasizing repetition of action, this class aims to create an understanding of the proper use of slab rollers, extruders, and hand tools.

This course can be repeated as needed.
