Private drawing instruction will teach you many important drawing fundamentals such as perspective, form and structure, lighting and shadow and the use various drawing materials. 

*Timing of Class sessions will be set up with Instructor and Student after student registers for class, does not need to be consecutive weeks. This class runs for 1.5 hours for 4 weeks.

Each session will include exercises that help flex creative muscles and nurture artist intuition to activate lifelong skills for observation and self-expression.

Overall, this private instruction aims to build fundamental skills, enhance creativity, and empower students to express themselves through drawing. 

*Continued instruction optional, class can be repeated to build skill set.

Art Explorers Middle School Studio Ages 12-16 (North Classroom)

In 2-D Studio Adventures, you'll experiment with a variety of mediums and techniques to bring your ideas to life on paper and canvas. Sketch, paint, and print your way through fun projects that challenge your skills and spark your creativity. From vibrant watercolor landscapes to intricate printmaking patterns, every class is a new opportunity to explore and express yourself!

In 3-D Studio Adventures, get ready to turn your artistic visions into tangible masterpieces. Sculpt, mold, and craft using exciting materials like clay, wire, and fabric. Learn the magic of creating 3-dimensional art, from textured clay sculptures to imaginative fiber art pieces. Has schoolwork sapped your gusto for writing? Has your creativity fallen asleep? Come and play with words.

Join other high school students to write, share, and publish a collaborative booklet. Sign up by yourself or bring a friend. High school students only. 

This 6 session course concludes with a celebratory book signing party.

Participants will play with writing using provided prompts and their own ideas, share and respond to each other’s writing, and then publish a class booklet. The class culminates with a signing party and a keepsake book for each participant.

Leave this course with life skills and experiences you will remember for years to come.

Supplies:  Student bring their own writing journal

Have you ever wanted to learn different ways to approach creative writing?

Here is your chance, join this four-week workshop and get started with your own creative writing projects. This four-week class will be taught by experienced writing instructors Barbara Barrows and Eric Bodwell. 

In this course, participants will explore four different methods for accessing their creativity and generating new writing. 

The methods will include:

  • Mining your life and experiences
  • Responding to art
  • Working with constraints
  • Remixing source material to create new creative works!

This class is for everyone 14+ who wants to learn the art of creative writing. Students, please purchase and bring a writing notebook, and a pen to the first class. 

Each class, students will use creative prompts, exercises, discussion, and examples to create short pieces that might lead to journal entries, poems, personal essays, and/ or short fiction.

*Class can be repeated to further develop skills.

Introduction to Metalsmithing & Jewelry Making (3 - D Lab)

Get a comprehensive introduction to the use of hand tools to practice fundamentals such as sawing, filing, forming, textures, cold connections and surface finishing using metals such as copper, brass, and bronze.

Videos and visuals are used to expand your knowledge of both design and techniques.

Feathered Friends: Birders Drawing & Watercolor Workshop for ages 9 - 14(North Classroom)

Calling all bird lovers! Enjoy the arrival of our feathered friends this Fall. Join this fun introduction level two week watercolor pencil and drawing class.  

Each week students will identify, journal, sketch, and add color to new works of art. Learn bird anatomy, feather patterns, traits and habitats while enjoying a fun adventure to Birdland!

Learn the step by step basics of drawing stunning, realistic birds who live in our area. Each student will learn to draw birds using watercolor pencil and watercolor paint. 

*Students will also learn traits, habits and migration in this wonderful world of birds class.

 Supplies needed for first week of class:
