Color Theory for Young Artists (age 12-16)

Join artist Laura Lynne on a journey of learning about color theory using acrylic paints. Experiment with combinations of colors, learn about value, tone, and composition as it relates to color. Each session will start with a lesson on color, then move on to a short study project. Some drawing experience required.

A Sense of Perspective for Young Artists (age 12-16)

Getting perspective right can be one of the more “intimidating” art skills to master. But it does not have to be. Join Kristin Schimmel as she leads you through a multi-disciplinary look at perspective. Working on linear and curvilinear perspectives, you’ll further your artistic skills by experimenting with texture and composition using pencil, ink, and watercolor.

Creative Collage for Young Artists (age 12-16)

Explore the potential of collage art. Using paper, paint, pencil, pen, and random three-dimensional objects, you’ll work on abstract painting collage, different ways of creating portrait collage, and a large cityscape final project that will broaden your imaginative and conceptual knowledge of this under-appreciated art form.

Abstract Painting for Young Artists (age 12-16)

Learn about Abstract Expressionist style painting while developing your own self-expression. Some projects will mimic Abstract Expressionist artists, while others will focus on the challenging work of conceptualizing your personal vision. Just like the artists of the movement, you can engage in discussions and brainstorm concepts and projects. Come prepared to share your favorite artist and work of the Abstract Expressionist movement!

Animal & Wildlife Art for Young Artists (age 12-16)

Calendar Jul 19, 2021 at 1 pm, runs for 1 week

In this camp led by wildlife illustrator Kelley Cappell, you’ll explore the art of animals and wildlife. Learn to create realistic images of animals/wildlife using different mediums such as colored pencils and acrylic paint. To exercise your creative muscle, you’ll also create your own “imaginary” animal. By the end of the camp, you’ll have completed a drawing and painting to take home.

Sculptural Art for Young Artists (age 12-16)

Calendar Jul 19, 2021 at 1 pm, runs for 1 week

Work with a variety of mediums- paper, paper-mache, electronic parts, and natural and man-made objects, to create reductive and additive sculptural artworks. Each day you’ll be challenged to conceptualize, plan, and create one small artwork and also work on a major project. Some days will include a short lesson about existing artists and create art inspired by that artist/s. All days will focus on specific mediums' possibilities and limitations with a goal-oriented process of creation.
