A Taste of Glass Bead Making

Curious about glass beads? In this sampler workshop, you’ll explore the ancient, yet simple Venetian technique of melting and layering Italian soft glass in a 2000° flame to create your own one-of-a-kind glass beads. Course# GLS100.321.01

Note: For ages 16 and above. Fee includes all tools, glass, use of a torch, and safety materials. 

For safety, this workshop is limited to three (3) participants and masks are required.

Ceramics: Beginner and Intermediate

Learn how to create wheel thrown ceramics in this comprehensive seven-week course designed for both beginner and intermediate clay artists.

The basics of handling clay are introduced with several hand-building techniques. Moving to the wheel, you’ll create cylinders/cups/plates and bowl forms with attachments, such as handles for mugs and spouts for pitchers.

Toward the end of the course, different glazing demonstrations will be introduced to design the work created. Intermediate students will be given more advanced options for learning upper-level techniques. Course# CER100.321.01

Note: Designed for ages 16 and above. Glazes and kiln firings are included in the course. During the duration of the class, students may sign up to use the studio for practice during our open gallery hours.

Class won't be in session on 6/22 & 6/24  

For safety, we limit enrollment and require that masks be worn.

Simple Glass Pendant Workshop

Glass sparkles and shines like no other material. With your instructor’s guidance, learn to melt borosilicate glass using a propane/oxygen torch and create colorful glass pendants. Flamework experience is helpful but not necessary. Course# GLS102.321.01

Note: For ages 16 and above. Please wear natural fiber clothing, closed-toe shoes, and pull long hair away from the face. Pieces will be available for pickup in 48 hours.

For safety, enrollment is limited and masks are required.

How to Paint Portraits in Oil

New! Using a variety of live demos, handouts, references, and critiques learn how to complete a traditional portrait oil painting. Working from a photo, paint either a self-portrait or a portrait of a friend or family member. You’re encouraged to introduce elements meaningful to your subject into the portrait. The final painting will be a (11” x 14”) piece of art ready to frame.

Designed for students with some painting and drawing experience, age 16 and above. Course# PNT110.321.01
