Adobe Illustrator - Private Instruction

Whether you're a novice, need help with a special project, or wish to sharpen your skill with Illustrator you can learn how to create original vector illustrations. Instruction will cover object drawing tools, colors, layers, templates, pathfinder, the oh-so-difficult pen tool, and more! Instruction will follow a lesson plan, or can be customized to your needs. 

Fee includes three hours of instruction (typically split it into two, 1.5 hr. sessions) - times to be arranged directly with the instructor. Students must provide their own laptop and software  https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/plans.html

Your instructor, Lisa Youngdahl, is a graphic designer with over 30 years of experience and a Resident Artist at Water Street Studios. 

She is the owner of Resolution Creative and has 15 years of experience teaching digital/graphic design at the College of DuPage, Waubonsee Community College, and Elgin Community College. She is currently an instructor at Elmhurst University.

Introduction to Pen and Ink Drawing (South Classroom)

Accomplished illustrator Kelley Cappell leads this beginner level course on pen and ink line drawing. Begin with basic technique exercises including shading and line variation with different size pens. Then, apply what you’ve learned by working on a drawing of your choice. By the end of the course, you will have a finished pen and ink drawing to take home.

Designed for ages 16 and above. Course #DRW101.122.04. Drawing experience is helpful, but not necessary to benefit from this course.

What you will need for the course:

  • Set of 10 (assorted size) black micron pens
  • 11”x14”mixed media, marker, or pen & ink pad. Must mention suitability for ink.

Draw Winter Pine Cones Workshop ( North Classroom)

Have a fun afternoon drawing “Winter Pine Cones". This color pencil project is designed for the beginner or anybody that just wants to draw!

*Everything will be supplied: paper, reference, pencils just bring your enthusiasm and have fun.

This program is presented by Water Street Studios instructor Phil Schorn.

Phil’s work has been in magazines, books, newspapers, and television. He has been teaching color pencil since 2017 and an instructor with WSS since 2020.

Holiday Glaze Your Own Bowls Night: Clay Lab + South Classroom (all ages)

Come out with your family to this special one night glaze workshop! This workshop is for kids and adults (parents, family, grandparents) This is the perfect family holiday workshop. Make some bowls to give as gifts this holiday season or keep them for yourself!

This  course will introduce students to glazing techniques. Students will focus on specific glazing techniques that students can apply to already made bowls. Students will apply glaze techniques to bisqueware,  bowls will be pre made at Water Street Studios and  ready for students to learn how to glaze and paint ceramics in this one night workshop. Art Materials included in workshop. 

Each student will receive two bowls to glaze!

*Additional bowls will be available for purchase on the night of the workshop. (such as ice cream bowls, cereal bowls, chip and popcorn bowls, etc.)

Students will pick up their finished bowls after they are fired.

*This class is the perfect for beginners or for intermediate ceramic students. This will be a fun class, great for parents, grandparents and kids, friends and family! Reserve your spot, limited space.
