Private drawing instruction will teach you many important drawing fundamentals such as perspective, form and structure, lighting and shadow and the use various drawing materials. 

*Timing of Class sessions will be set up with Instructor and Student after student registers for class, does not need to be consecutive weeks. This class runs for 2 hours for 4 weeks.

Each session will include exercises that help flex creative muscles and nurture artist intuition to activate lifelong skills for observation and self-expression.

Overall, this private instruction aims to build fundamental skills, enhance creativity, and empower students to express themselves through drawing. 

*Continued instruction optional, class can be repeated to build skill set.

The Art of Still Life Drawing (North Classroom)

Join this two week observational drawing workshop and take your drawing skills to the next level!

Develop your drawing talent and gain confidence in every area of art! In this course, we are going to refine and expand our sketching practices by observing and drawing a still-life scene. We'll learn drawing strategies like value building, proportions, utilizing negative space, and more. Still-life objects will be provided for this class, but feel free to bring your own items to draw!

Students will learn to enhance their observational drawing skills.

Topics covered including:

  • Composition 
  • Proportion
  • Creating depth using shadows and highlights
  • Strategies for realistic still life drawings!

Beginning Contour Line Drawing (3 - D Classroom) *new class

Participants will engage in various exercises and practices aimed at developing their skills in Contour Line Drawing. Throughout the course, emphasis will be placed on observational drawing techniques and understanding the fundamental principles of line, shape, and form.

Please purchase the following before your first class:

  • One 9" x 12" or larger Sketchbook  
  • At least one Ink Pen 
  • At least one Marker

Introduction to Color Pencil Drawing( North Classroom)*new class

This class is a five week comprehensive introduction to colored pencil drawing techniques. Students will learn techniques for drawing using colored pencil, to achieve beautiful painterly effects. Students will leave class with new colored pencil drawing skills and finished works of art. For 16+

Curriculum will include:

  • How to use different drawing strokes to achieve results.
  • How to effectively layer colors for painterly techniques
  • How to use Color Theory to increase the drama of your artwork.
  • and more! 

Starting with an underlaying drawing, the blending of layers of color will give a painterly quality to the drawings. Students will learn about additional tools that will help achieve the desired effects to their drawing. Students will start with a tutorial lesson, then students will work on their own drawings with the guidance of the instructor.

Students should bring references and ideas for drawings they would like to create.
