Get ready to unleash your creativity at our one-of-a-kind art summer camp: Inspiration to Creation!

We don't just learn about art history, we dive into it and bring it to life. From studying the works of some of the most influential artists in history to creating our own masterpieces using a variety of mediums, this camp is guaranteed to inspire and excite budding artists.

Join us as we explore the work of inspirational artists from different eras and backgrounds. Through observation, critical thinking, and engaging discussions, students will gain a deeper understanding of the connection and diversity that can be found in the art world.

Students will have the opportunity to create their own 2D or 3D art pieces using techniques taught by our experienced artist instructor. We will feature a special artists and use their work as inspiration for our own creations. With a wide range of materials such as acrylic and watercolor paints, brushes, paper, and even found objects, students will have the chance to experiment and develop their own unique style while learning from the masters.

Jumpstart your Creative Writing (North Classroom)

Have you ever wanted to learn different ways to approach creative writing?

Here is your chance, join this four-week workshop and get started with your own creative writing projects. This four-week class will be taught by experienced writing instructors Barbara Barrows and Eric Bodwell. 

In this course, participants will explore four different methods for accessing their creativity and generating new writing. 

The methods will include:

  • Mining your life and experiences
  • Responding to art
  • Working with constraints
  • Remixing source material to create new creative works!

This class is for everyone 14+ who wants to learn the art of creative writing. Students, please purchase and bring a writing notebook, and a pen to the first class. 

Each class, students will use creative prompts, exercises, discussion, and examples to create short pieces that might lead to journal entries, poems, personal essays, and/ or short fiction.

*Class can be repeated to further develop skills.

Make your own Summer Stuffie - One day workshop(North Classroom)(Ages 7 - 11)

This is a special Summer stuffie workshop!

This class will teach students how to make their own unique artistic  stuffie by learning to hand sew monster and stuffed animal toys! Students will explore their own creativity and imagination in this two hour workshop. This is a great class for students of 7 - 11, as it requires both creativity and fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and problem solving.  

  • Students will turn their own 2-D drawings into 3 -D stuffies.
  • Students will learn basic sewing skills, learn how to hand sew!

Students will be guided to create their own one of a kind stuffed animal and leave with new art skills.  This will be a fun two hour workshop for beginners. 

*All materials are included. Class can be repeated to build skills. Sewing safety skills will be practiced at all times.

Pet Portrait Workshop (North Classroom) * New Class

Ceramics Camp / Session 4(Clay Lab)(Ages 7 - 12)

This two-week ceramics kids camp will meet from 9 am-12 pm and includes clay and glazes.

Camps will create an assortment of cups, bowls, plates, mugs, vases, bird houses, birdbaths, cookie jars, etc. during the first week of camp. The second week we will throw on the wheel, make pendants, and magnets while glazing our projects from the first week.

The Friday of the second week we will have a showcase of our work where families can come at 11am to see all the work the students made while they talk about their work and the processes used.

*Students should bring a closeable water bottle, snack, and small hand towel. No nuts please.

This course can be repeated as needed.

Note: Designed for ages 7-12, siblings encouraged. Clay, glazes, and Kiln firings included.

Enter our “classroom cave” and make art on the walls like they did! Students in this experiential art camp will learn about prehistoric creatures while participating in activities like a mock archeological dig, creating their own pigment, and casting fossils! They’ll leave with new artistic knowledge and skills, as well as a variety of completed projects.

Introduction to Color Pencil Drawing( North Classroom)*new class

This class is a five week comprehensive introduction to colored pencil drawing techniques. Students will learn techniques for drawing using colored pencil, to achieve beautiful painterly effects. Students will leave class with new colored pencil drawing skills and finished works of art. For 16+

Curriculum will include:

  • How to use different drawing strokes to achieve results.
  • How to effectively layer colors for painterly techniques
  • How to use Color Theory to increase the drama of your artwork.
  • and more! 

Starting with an underlaying drawing, the blending of layers of color will give a painterly quality to the drawings. Students will learn about additional tools that will help achieve the desired effects to their drawing. Students will start with a tutorial lesson, then students will work on their own drawings with the guidance of the instructor.

Students should bring references and ideas for drawings they would like to create.

*If a repeat session is offered, it could be ongoing for students to continue their projects and refine their drawing skills.

  • Prisma color pencil sharpener (recommended)
  • Kneaded eraser
